Sustainable Single-ply Roofing
Sika Sarnafil, Dow Chemical, and Georgia Pacific announce in New England a 20/50 year Renewable Single Ply Roofing System. This system is designed to be sustainable and a dramatic move away from the typical disposable single ply roofing systems.
Sika Sarnafil will issue a 20 year water tight warrantee on their Sarnafil single ply membrane, along with a certificate of recyclability. Sarnafil membrane can now be recycled after its life back at their plant in Canton MA. Please see the Marriott Long Wharf project profile for more detail.
Dow Chemical will issue a 50 year reuse warrantee on Styrofoam Deck Mate roof insulation. Deck Mate's high R-value, high compressive strength and its resistance to moisture makes it permanent roof insulation. This insulation has the same performance as the cavity wall and below grade permanent building insulation. Deck Mate is also fire approved by every building code in the United States for direct application to metal deck.
Georgia-Pacific Dens Deck cover board protects the insulation against mechanical and roof traffic damage during the life of the roof, as well as when it is time to reroof. Dens Deck has a high compressive strength, is mold resistant, and is the only cover product with a moisture resistant treated gypsum core.
This singly ply roof system is environmentally responsible and its goal is to eliminate roofing material from entering the waste stream in the future. Most importantly this system costs the same or is as competitive as the typical disposable singly ply roofing systems now being specified.
