AIA Continuing Education Center

PACE Representatives is a Registered Provider with The American Institute of Architects Continuing Education System. Credit earned on completion of these programs will be reported to CES Records for AIA members. Certificates of Completion for non-AIA members are available upon request.  If you would like to schedule of the AIA CE presentations below, please contact Christopher Armstrong at 781.541.5062 or carmstrong@pacerepresentatives.com.

Building Envelope Science Fundamentals & Key Concepts
PACE Representatives
1 AIA LU/HSW

Program Summary:

The Building Envelope is the system or assembly of components that provides environmental separation between the conditioned space and the exterior environment.  This course will provide attendees with a general overview of building envelope science, impacts, functions, and evolution.  How building envelope systems and materials have changed and their impact on performance and resiliency will be reviewed.  The definition, code requirements and key concepts for the four primary control layers (e.g., water, air, thermal & vapor) will be explained in detail.  Assembly solutions & best practices for achieving high performance and resilient wall systems will also be reviewed.

Commercial Fenestration Fundamentals & Design Considerations

PACE Representatives
1 AIA LU/HSW

Program Summary:

Fenestration systems are a critical component of the building envelope and must manage several control functions while allowing for natural daylight and views.  This course will provide attendees with an overview of the general design and performance considerations for commercial fenestration systems.  The benefits of natural daylight and views on occupant well being will be discussed.  The current code and green building requirements for commercial fenestration will be reviewed in detail.  The definition, functional & performance differences among commercial windows, storefront, and curtain wall systems will be reviewed as well as example details for achieving high performance and resilient fenestration systems and transitions to adjacent conditions.
